Motherhood & Photography

Seattle and EAstside Motherhood Photographer

Motherhood. Mother and daughters. River, holding hands. Love.

As a female photographer and a mother, I can say that motherhood has influenced my photography in countless ways. It has allowed me to see the world in a different light and to capture moments that are raw, emotional, and real.

Motherhood has taught me to appreciate the little things in life. The way my child's hand fits perfectly in mine, the sound of his laughter or her sweet, little giggle, the way she looks at me with her big, innocent eyes, the way his entire face smiles when he spends time with me. These are moments that I cherish and try to capture in my photography.

Motherhood has also given me a deeper sense of empathy and understanding. I know what it's like to carry a life inside of me, to feel the weight of responsibility that comes with being a parent. This understanding has allowed me to connect with my subjects on a more personal level, to capture the essence of who they are and what they are feeling.

One of the most significant ways that motherhood has influenced my photography is by giving me a heightened sense of purpose.

  • I want to capture images that will evoke emotion and tell a story.

  • I want to create images that will stand the test of time and be cherished by generations to come.

  • I want to document the love and connection between a mother and her child, the unbreakable bond that forms between them.

Being a mother and a photographer is not always easy. Balancing work and family can be challenging, and there are days when I feel like I'm failing at both. But the rewards are immeasurable. To be able to capture the love and connection between a mother and her child is a privilege that I don't take lightly.

Motherhood has influenced my photography in countless ways. It has allowed me to see the world with a different perspective, to appreciate the little moments, to connect with my subjects on a more personal level, and to give me a sense of purpose. Being a mother and a photographer is a balancing act, but it's a beautiful one, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
