Hi! I’m Katie. (She/her)
I think in song lyrics and sing all day.
I see beauty in the tiniest things and the most seemingly insignificant moments.
I dance a lot when nobody is watching.
I believe that laughter heals.
I think that the perfect morning starts with a pastry from Piroshky Piroshky, a London Fog latte from Cafe Lladro, and a walk around Pike Place Market to buy fresh flowers for my kitchen table.
I am a passion-driven artist providing bold and touching images that tell the story of your family. I love capturing the character, the joy, and the connection in your family. Making your family or senior photo session the best it can be is my number one goal. Are you a Seattle area family looking to book a session? Check out my offerings below.
Originally a Southern California girl, I have lived and worked in the Seattle area for over 30 years. I love Seattle and love to showcase the areas that make Pacific Northwest living so glorious. I have two whimsical kids, a smoking-hot husband, and the sweetest little rescue doodle the world has ever seen. I love nature, animals, books, and a good snuggle in front of a classic movie. I love the forest, farmer’s markets, and teaching my children to enjoy vintage classic rock.
I have been a middle school teacher in the area for the last decade and taught elementary and preschool before that. I love kids of all ages and enjoy watching families grow right before my lens. My teaching experience allows me to work with kids of any age and connect with families at any stage.
Why Photography is my favorite Medium:
I’ve been an artist my entire life.
I’ve expressed myself through color since the day I could first hold a crayon.
In college, I majored in drawing and painting, and though I was good at both, they weren’t the media I liked to tell stories in.
I have always been interested in the human experience; the joys and sorrows of life and the moments that move people are what I wanted to capture.
And although I didn’t major in photography, I always had a camera with me at every event, on every vacation, and as the blue print for every painting or print.
It was natural for me to move from painting, to graphics, to portraiture. I am passionate about capturing the human experience. I love what some might see as the everyday hum drum of life through the eyes of a loving and connected family, senior, or event. This is was what moves me and feeds my soul. And so, I left the classroom behind to seek out a dream of capturing bold, loving, connected life.

My Philosophy:
I believe that a great photography session begins with the experience.
I believe that you should leave a photography session feeling renewed, connected, and excited. I believe that photography sessions should be something to look forward to and should be treated as an event.
I believe that you should get your photos taken every year because your story is worth telling.
I believe that photos last a lifetime and can transport you filling all your senses with that moment in time.
I believe that photography is an investment in your personal legacy.
What does a session with me look like?
It’s photo session day, what should you expect? I greet everyone at their level and start the experience by getting to know a little bit about you and your family. I think that all sessions need to have standard posing, so we get those out of the way first. We move quickly through standing and seated posing where everyone looks at the camera, and then we work on connected, joyful posing that appears candid and loving. We always end with something fun like dancing, throwing stones into the water, telling jokes, or playing parachute. I want you and your kids to feel like you just left a fun outing with an old friend when you work with me.
