Frequently Asked Questions
How far are you willing to travel to a location?
I will travel to the location of your choice, free of charge, within a 25-mile radius of Seattle. A $50 travel fee will be assessed for locations outside that 25-mile radius. Travel fees are assessed for Mt. Rainier, Ruby Beach or Seaside, and any locations north of Mukilteo or south of Olympia.
How can I best prepare my children/Senior?
Make sure that everyone has a full tummy and that they are well rested. I try to get everything I need in 45 minutes to an hour. For little ones, this time is easiest when they have had a snack and a rest. A well-rested kid with a full tummy is much easier to direct, interact with, and is much more willing to play games. Check out this blog post about how to prepare your children.
Seniors are a little different, but still need the basic comforts. Eat a snack and keep hydrated before and during the session. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep the night before. Treat this like an event and don’t have big plans the day of the session. Check out this blog post on how to prepare for your senior session.
How and when will we receive our images?
I host your fully edited, high-resolution images on Shootproof. This beautiful, online sharing site allows you to view and choose your favorite images. All images that are gallery worthy will be included in each gallery, no matter the package you choose. I am an all-inclusive photographer, and that means that you get everything that I edit if you purchase a full session. If you purchase a mini session, your package will include 10 images with the ability to purchase additional files directly from your proofing gallery. This direct download option streamlines delivery and makes it super easy to upload your images for your needs. Images are usually delivered in two weeks during slow season in the late fall and winter, and up to four weeks during the busy summer/fall season. For more on gallery delivery, check out this blog post.
Can we keep our images private?
If you choose to forgo signing the model release, your images will not be posted on social media. For various reasons, families opt to keep their images private, and although I am proud of and want to share everything that I capture, your privacy is important to me. Therefore, if I don’t have your express permission to post your/your family’s images, they will remain private and not be posted to any social media sites, personal or professional.
What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
A few days per month will be held for sessions that are postponed due to weather. Should we need to reschedule due to heavy rain, snow, or hail, I will open up makeup dates to you. Light drizzle or the projection of rain are not enough for an automatic cancellation. If you need to cancel for any other reason, a 48-hour cancellation policy is required and your deposit will not be refunded, but it can be put towards a session at a mutually agreed upon date.
What if my children don’t cooperate on the day of the session?
Children can be unpredictable, and your child may not want to cooperate on session day, no matter how old they are. I do my best to interact with each child as individuals. I have been a teacher most all of my life, and my passion is finding the best in every kid. What you may see as difficult or frustrating behavior often yields amazing, positive connection and pictures that show joy. I also have a few tricks in my toolbox that come in handy. Don’t worry about your kids being kids, let me help guide them and you into amazing, wonderful family moments. To learn more, check out this blog post about how I work with children, especially when they don’t cooperate.
